Thorin & Companyʼs journey through the Misty Mountains left them off course and with almost no equipment. Worse, they were trapped in trees and surrounded by fire - rescued at the last minute by the Great Eagles of the Misty Mountains. After their rescue the Eagles agreed to transport them to the Carrock, near the home of Beorn. This painting depicts their flight to the Carrock and is from a scene described in the chapter Queer Lodgings in The Hobbit.
